JUMP TO LESSON:
QUIZ on Electric Field Integral Today.
Daily Check-in: Gauss's Law for spheres and cylinders
Today, we'll do some problems which involve finding the electric fields in and around conductors and insulators. Chapter 23:
Required: 26, 49, 52, 51, 55, 76
Homework: Quiz on Gauss's Law on Friday, December 20th. Finish all of the assigned problems so far. Watch the following video on electric potential energy and potential.
Hour 1 - Daily Check-in: Gauss's Law for sheet
Today, we'll practice using Gauss's Law to find the electric field around a sheet of charge. We'll do problems from Chapter 23:
Required: 18, 33, 36, 38, 43
Enrichment: Find some practice AP Problems
If you were out, you can catch up with the videos below.
Infinite plane of charge:
Infinte slab of charge:
Hour 2 - Daily Check-In: Electric Potential due to continuous distribution of charge
During the second hour of lab, we'll do the following problems from Chapter 24 on calculating potential due to a continuous distribution of charge:
Required: 23, 24, 30, 32, 33
With time remaining, you may watch the video below or finish any problems from previous posts that you haven't gotten to already. Or you can start problems from the next post.
Homework: Quiz on Gauss's Law on Friday, December 20th. Watch the following video on electric potential with the path integral. We use this method when we know that function for electric field for all points in space, which is usually in those symmetric situations when we used Gauss's Law.
Daily Check-in: Finding potential with path integral
After the daily check-in, we'll continue working on electrostatics problems to review finding both electric field and potential.
Required: 1979E1, 1994E1, 1993E1, 1989E1, 1980E2
Enrichment: Find old AP problems in the resources I provided in Google Classroom. There is at least one electrostatics problem from every year of past AP problems.
Homework: Finish the above set of problems. Quiz on Gauss's Law next class - Friday, December 20th. Check out the Circuits Review Videos in preparation for the next unit which we will start the first week of January.
