With any remaining time, we'll start working on energy problems.  

Homework:  Make sure you've completed the circular motion questions in Google Classroom, and look through the required problems in the next post. ❗Assessment on Chapters 5 and 6 in Halliday plus banked turns on Monday, September 30th.  

🟥 2: Th 9/26 lab, 🟨 4: W 9/25 lab, 🟦 8: W 9/25 lab - energy lab

Today, we'll continue review of last year's material by doing a lab with energy. You'll need to find the coefficient of kinetic friction between a wooden block and the lab table. The only measurement devices are a meter stick and a balance. You cannot use any timing devices or motion sensors.  You'll focus on work lost to a non-conservative force.  

After you get a coefficient, do a secondary experiment to verify your results; you may use another measuring device for this simple verification experiment.  

If you finish early, you should try to find an expression for the coefficient using another method - Newton's Laws.  This part is not required in your notebook, so you can do it on a whiteboard in your group if you'd prefer.  

Finally, if you finish all of the above, move on to the energy problems in the next post.

Homework:  Make sure your "lab write-up" completed in your lab notebook to be turned in.  Remember lab notebooks do not leave the classroom.  It's not a formal write-up.  Give it a title, and make sure you have a labeled diagram of what you measured.  Make sure to have some "before-and-after diagrams."  Then just your measurements and calculations.  This lab is due in class on Monday, October 10th.  ❗Assessment on Chapters 5 and 6 in Halliday plus banked turns on Monday, September 30th.
