Pd 8 Seniors - assembly today.
Today, weβll look at how we can apply what we know about vectors in two dimensions to inclined plane problems. The key to inclined plane problems is picking a coordinate system that makes sense. We must shift our thinking from a traditional horizontal-vertical coordinate system to a slanted coordinate system. We'll extend the discussion to link to our inclined plane lab that we performed a long time ago. We'll talk about what factors affect the motion of an object on an inclined plane theoretically and in real life. With time remaining, we will start the β©οΈ Pivot Interactives lab from next post. It is due on Wednesday, January 20th at 10pm.
If you missed today's lecture or you need to review some, watch the following video.
Homework: Review your notes and write down any questions you may have about solving inclined plane problems.
Today, we'll do a lab in β©οΈ Pivot Interactives called "Forces on Objects on a Ramp (short version) BCF." In this lab, you will investigate the components of force on an inclined plane. We'll extend the discussion to link to our inclined plane lab that we performed a long time ago. We'll talk about what factors affect the motion of an object on an inclined plane theoretically and in real life. Lab is due Wednesday at 10pm.
If you finish early, start the β Positive Physics problems in the next post.
Homework: Finish lab, due Wednesday, January 20th at 10pm. Quiz on β Positive Physics unit 8: diagonal forces next class.
Today, we'll apply what you've learned about inclined planes to β Positive Physics problems. Do the "work" problems from unit 9: inclined forces from the following sections:
preparation problems
complete problems 1
complete problems 2
Only completion score counts, so try the problems till you get them right. Problems are due on Thursday at 10pm. No late work will be accepted.
Homework: β Positive Physics problems above due Thursday at 10pm. Quiz on β Positive Physics Unit 8 moved to Friday.
Optional Extra Practice: Do page 6 of the Newton's Second Law packet. You may check Solutions to Inclined Plane Problems, but try them on your own first!
