Pd 6: â Positive Physics Kinematics Assessment
Today, we'll start a big lab for this marking period. We will design an experiment to determine the relationship between force, mass, and motion. We will talk about how we would go about finding the relationship between THREE different variables.
Then, we'll use đī¸ Vernier Video Analysis to investigate the motion of a fan cart. A fan cart experiences a constant net external force. By the end of this lesson, you should be able to describe the motion of a fan cart by looking at the position vs time and velocity vs time graphs of the cart.
Directions: Once you're in đī¸ Vernier Video Analysis (access through Classroom), select to open the "Fan Cart" video from Sample Videos. In the settings gear button, change "Advance Frames" to 5 frames. Turn the Trails button on the left to off. Use the system button to set the conversion from pixels to meters. Then advance the video to the frame where the fan cart is released, and start taking data there through the end of the video.
Homework: If you have not finished the fan cart video analysis, do that in đī¸ Vernier Video Analysis. Then fill out the question in âī¸ Google Classroom about the resulting motion of an object that experiences a constant net external force.
Today, in âŠī¸ Pivot Interactives, you'll work on finding the relationship between force and acceleration with the lab called "Fan Cart: Force & Acceleration (Scaffolded) BCF." If you finish early, move on to the next lesson.
Homework: Finish at least collecting data for the âŠī¸ Pivot Interactives lab above by next class time!
