For period 8, today is an asynchronous lesson because of PSATs. I will still be on our normal Zoom call at the normal time for optional office hours for anyone who is not taking the PSAT.
Today, we'll work on these problems from Chapter 2 #20, 33-36, 44, 48, 54-58, 77. Remember to try to stay in variables until the last step of the problem! This is one of the skills you will be graded on. We will continue working on these problems next time, so they are NOT homework.
Homework: Look over the problems you've done so far and write down any questions you might have about solving these. Try to finish at least through #44. Pick one of these problems to write up neatly. Scan your full solution to PDF and upload it to the assignment in βοΈ Google Classroom. Make sure to include all the components of problem solving reviewed in class.
Answers to textbook:
20. 59.9 mi/h, No
33. a(0-4) = 2.0 m/s2, a(4-10) = 0.0 m/s2, a(10-18) = -1.0 m/s2, Speeds up, constant velocity, slows down
34. (a) 0 m/s2, 4.0 m/s2, -4.0 m/s2, 8.0 m/s2, 0 m/s2 (b) Constant velocity of -4.0 m/s
35. (b) 10 m/s, (c) 240m, (d) 17 m/s
36. 150 s
44. (a) 25 m (b) car B
48. 10.5 m, Yes
54. 7.1 m/s
55. (a) -12 m/s, -4 m/s; (b) -18m, (c) 50m
56. (a) (3) 4x (b) 6.75 m
57. (a) 12.2 m/s, 16.4 m/s; (b) 24.8m (c) 4.07s

77. (a) 8.45s, (b) xM = 157m, xC = 132m; (c) 13m
For period 6, today is an asynchronous lesson because of PSATs. I will still be on our normal Zoom call at the normal time for optional office hours for anyone who is not taking the PSAT.
Today, we'll continue working on these problems from Chapter 2 #20, 33-36, 44, 48, 54-58, 77. Remember to try to stay in variables until the last step of the problem! This is one of the skills you will be graded on.
Homework: Finish all of the textbook problems. Again, select one of these problems to write up neatly. Again, scan your full solution to PDF and upload it to the assignment in βοΈ Google Classroom. Make sure to include all the components of problem solving reviewed in class.

We'll spend today solving problems in β Positive Physics from the following sections:
Unit 1: Velocity
preparation problems
complete problems 1
complete problems 2
challenge
Unit 2: Acceleration
complete problems 1
complete problems 2
complete problems 3
challenge
These problems are due Tuesday, October 20th at 10pm! After that date, the "work" in Positive Physics will be locked, and you will not be able to submit the assignment. No late credit!
The next assessment (W 10/21 for pd 8 and F 10/23 for pd 6) will utilize the β Positive Physics platform, so please make sure you familiarize yourself with problems on this site. There are also addition problems you can try on the "extra practice" tab that are in the exact format of the assessment.
Homework: Finish all the β Positive Physics problems. Watch the following video on how to take assessments in β Positive Physics. Get used to the format in the "extra practice" tab. Your next assessment will be delivered through Positive Physics next week - Wednesday for pd 8 and Friday for pd 6.
