Today, we'll start a lab in β©οΈ Pivot Interactives called "Analyzing Collisions." In this lab, we'll first learn if energy is conserved in collisions. Then we'll try other different combinations of mass, speed, and velocity to see if they are conserved. You will compare your findings to those of Descarte and Leibniz. This lab is due on Sunday at 10pm.
Homework: Make sure to finish collecting your data before next class so that you can share your findings in your group next time. Quiz Friday on β Positive Physics units 17 (springs).
Today, we'll continue the lab in β©οΈ Pivot Interactives called "Analyzing Collisions." In this lab, we'll first learn if energy is conserved in collisions. Then we'll try other different combinations of mass, speed, and velocity to see if they are conserved. You will compare your findings to those of Descarte and Leibniz. You should have already taken your data for this lab. Today is a day where you'll share your findings of your assigned collision with the rest of the group and you will decide together which quantities are universally conserved in ALL collisions. This lab is due on Sunday at 10pm.
Homework: Finish the lab by Sunday at 10pm. Quiz Friday on β Positive Physics units 17 (springs).
Quiz TODAY on β Positive Physics units 17 (springs).
Today we will introduce momentum and impulse. We will learn that momentum p = mv and that the change in momentum Ξp = impulse FΞt. We will look at examples of how impulse is altered. We will also discuss conservation of momentum in a collision.
Presentation: Momentum Presentation
Homework: Do problems from β Positive Physics unit 14: momentum "work" problems from the following sections only:
definition of momentum
Finish these problems by Monday at 10pm. Only completion score counts. No late work will be accepted.
Optional Extra Practice: Page 1 in Momentum Packet (SOLUTIONS),
