F 3/26

M 4/5

T 4/6

W 4/7

πŸ”΄ 1: F 3/26, 🟑 3: F 3/26a Ampere's Law revisited (1)

Today, we'll first spend some time making sure we understand LR circuits by finishing the AP problems involving LR circuits. We'll remember what happens to inductors at t=0 and t=∞. We'll also calculate the energy stored in an inductor.

Required: 1998E2, 2008E2

Then, we'll revisit Ampere's Law problems. We'll do some practice problems together:

Previous problems: 2000E3, 1993E1, 1979E2 (re-do), 1983E3, 1988E3a
New problems: 2019aE3, 2011E3, 1994E3

Homework: Quiz on LR circuits on Thursday, April 8th.

Today, we'll revisit Ampere's Law problems. We'll do some practice problems together. Then, practice AP problems having to do with magnetism and induction.

❀️ 1: T 4/6a, πŸ’› 3: T 4/6 Maxwell's equations (1)

Today, we'll look at how Maxwell brought everything about electric and magnetic fields together in what we now call "Maxwell's Equations."

  • We'll learn about displacement current to complete Ampere's Law.

  • We'll learn about how energy is stored in electric and magnetic fields.

  • We'll learn about the symmetry in the mutual creation of electric and magnetic fields.

  • We'll learn what all this has to do with light.
