πŸ”΄ 1: M 9/14, 🟑 3: M 9/14a SEL

We'll start the week by talking about Social Emotional Learning, growth mindset, stress management, and mindfulness. We'll be filling out an SEL questionaire in ✏️ Google Classroom. We'll also talk about video-watching strategies for homework assignments. If there's time, we'll have an election for Class Secretary. (If not, then we'll do it first thing next hour.)

Homework: Think about pros and cons of watching videos for homework and doing problems for classwork.

πŸŸ₯ 1: T 9/15, 🟨 3: M 9/14b mechanics pre-test

During this hour, you'll be taking a mechanics pre-test to see how much you remember from last year. This pre-test is essential for me to figure out where you all are in your knowledge of physics (and what you forgot over the summer), and it will also tell you how much work you need to put into this class. Everyone will get 100% as a grade as long as you don't violate academic integrity on this assessment.

If there's time remaining at the end of class, you may start watching the homework video

Homework: Tonight, you'll have a 20-minute video for homework. Even though the video itself is only 20 minutes, most people will not spend exactly that amount of time with it. Some people will spend 15 minutes and others will spend 1 hour. For some of you, this will be easy review and for others, you'll have to work hard to learn a more standard notation. Don't forget to pause, take notes, rewind and rewatch, or fast forward as necessary. Tomorrow, I want to see that you've at least tried the example problems at the end of the video.

❀️ 1: W 9/16a, πŸ’› 3: W 9/16 free body diagrams

We'll start class with our first daily check-in. This will test your ability to apply the principles in the free body diagram video.

Homework: I want you to watch the second video tonight. Don't forget to take notes, pause, rewind, replay, or even fast forward if necessary. Come to class with any questions you have and be prepared for a daily check-in next class.

πŸ“• 1: W 9/16b, πŸ“’ 3: Th 9/17 Newton's Laws problems

Today, we'll start with our second daily check-in on free body diagrams and friction. Then, we'll work independently and collaboratively on problems pertaining to Newton's Laws from Chapter 5 in our Halliday textbook and Chapter 4 in our old Giancoli textbook (indicated with a G) starting at your level. I will assess your understanding individually and answer your questions as I circulate from breakout room to breakout room.
