1: Th 9/9, 🟡 3: F 9/10 - introductions

Today, we'll start to talk more about the course and how everything will work. Today, we'll introduce ourselves and learn a little more about each other. If there's time, we'll talk about Google Classroom, how that's set up, and what is also available on my website.

We'll try to answer the following questions:

  • What were some good experiences last year?

  • What aspects of virtual learning did you like that we should keep as we learn in person?

  • What are you excited about learning in this class?

We'll also talk about collaboration:

  • What are some ways we can collaborate and form a community outside of class time?

  • What will we see when we work together?

  • What will we hear when we work together?

  • How can we help each other?

Finally, we'll talk about video-watching strategies for homework assignments.

Homework: If you haven't done any of the homework above, make sure you get to it. ✏️Check Google Classroom to fill out the form on Personal Learning Habits. Don't forget to review the Summer Assignment. Assessment Thursday, September 23rd. Think about pros and cons of watching videos for homework and doing problems for classwork.

Period 3 - Please work ahead and do this homework over the weekend.

Homework: Tonight, you'll have a 20-minute video for homework. Even though the video itself is only 20 minutes, most people will not spend exactly that amount of time with it. Some people will spend 15 minutes and others will spend 1 hour. For some of you, this will be easy review and for others, you'll have to work hard to learn a more standard notation. Don't forget to pause, take notes, rewind and rewatch, or fast forward as necessary. Tomorrow, I want to see that you've at least tried the example problems at the end of the video.

🔴 1: F 9/10 🟨 3: M 9/13 lab - SEL & pd 3 free body diagrams

Today, we'll start talking about Social Emotional Learning, growth mindset, stress management, and mindfulness. We'll be filling out an SEL questionnaire in ✏️ Google Classroom. If there's time, we'll have an election for Class Secretary.

Period 3 only - Then, in the second hour, we'll do our first daily check-in. This will test your ability to apply the principles in the free body diagram video.

🟥 1: T 9/14 lab, 💛 3: T 9/14 - summer enrichment review

Today, you may collaborate in order to review any of the topics from the summer assignment. If there's time remaining at the end of class, you may start watching the homework video.
