Dear Barbara Todd,

My name is Somak Das, a current senior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and it is my privilege to invite your students to apply to the 2014 MIT THINK Scholars Program. Our program's mission is to recognize the work of talented high school students that have demonstrated exceptional innovation and motivation in designing science or engineering projects.

Unlike other competitions, we only require an idea proposal and do not expect the applicants to have started on their project. The winners will receive $2,000 in funding, a trip to MIT, mentorship from the THINK team, and advice from MIT professors and industry professionals to complete their project over the spring semester.

We know that you, as an educator, share our vision of encouraging youth to take on scientific challenges. We believe this would be a great opportunity for your students, and we hope that you will forward information to them. They can think about their project ideas over the break and apply online (as individuals or teams of 2) by January 11, 2014.

For more information about the THINK Scholars Program and the application process, see our website at http://think.mit.edu/ (FAQ: http://think.mit.edu/faq-teachers). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to drop us a note at think@mit.edu.

Thank you,
Somak Das
