What vocabulary can we use to describe motion?

Today, we'll introduce Chapter 2 - Kinematics.  Kinematics describes motion without referencing the cause of that motion.  We'll start the unit by talking about some basic kinematics formulas and notation.  We'll also distinguish between scalar and vector quantities.  
Presentation:  Intro to Kinematics
Homework:  Review your notes from today's lecture, and make sure you understand the notation.  If you need extra support, see your textbook sections 2.1-2.2.  
  • By Tuesday, September 11th: 
    • Read thoroughly: Honors Physics Expectations & Course Policies and Lab Safety Contract - have both signed. Highlight at least 3 things you find interesting or different on the course policies page.
    • Update your email address in Genesis.
    • Log into your WW-P Google Apps by going to google.com with [studentlogin]@wwprsd.org. Once you're logged on, if you don't plan to check this gmail often, set up forwarding service by following the directions here
    • Accept the invitation to Google Classroom if you have not already.  I post many announcements here, so check it regularly.
    • Cover your textbook.
  • REMEMBER LUNCH LAB starting right away!  
    • Period 2 has lab on A days till 11:10am starting Friday, Sept 7th
    • Period 5 has lab on D days at 11:20am starting Thursday, Sept 13th
    • Period 7 has lab on B days at 11:20am starting Tuesday, Sept 11th
