How does the normal force vary depending on the situation?

Today, we'll look at another problem on an inclined plane.  We'll do the following:  What is the required force F applied horizontally to a block of mass m to keep the block moving at constant velocity up the incline of angle theta?  What is the value of the normal force?

In reflecting on this problem, one of the important things to realize is that the normal force is not equal to mg nor is it equal to mg cos theta!

Homework:  Pds 2 & 5 - Have a good break.  Pd 7 - finish Friction & Vector Forces.
