How can we diagram forces?

Today, we'll first learn about how to draw free body diagrams in order to represent the external forces on an object/system.  First read the PowerPoint below.  Then watch the video below.  Then practice on Free Body Diagrams Worksheet.  
Video:  This video was made for students in AT Physics, so there are some advanced concepts like knowing the direction of acceleration and also picking the "right" sign convention.  There are also things about knowing if the forces equal each other that you can ignore for now.  Just focus on how to draw the arrows and label them appropriately.

Homework:  Draw free body diagrams for the objects on Free Body Diagrams Worksheet. Check Google Classroom for photos of free body diagrams to critique; just write down your comments in your notebook or on a piece of paper for discussion in class.  Don't forget to post your Newton's First Law video on Google Classroom by Tuesday 10/10 at 11:59pm.  Study for brief quiz on Newton's 1st Law Wednesday.
